The grandson of famous explorer Jacques Cousteau is currently filming a new show looking for lost wrecks and artifacts. Philippe Cousteau and his wife have chosen to use Aquapulse AQ1B detectors as a tried and tested detector system well suited for their task. More details of the show, which will be on The Travel Channel, will be released as soon as we know.
Aquascan International Ltd wish Philippe and his crew the best of luck in their quest.
Aquascan received an enquiry from Mark Lewis of Dive Services. One of his clients dropped a gold ring into the water while mooring a boat in Windsor (UK). The ring had been owned for the last 44 years, and locating it was a priority just due to its sentimental value. It was recommended that he hired an Aquapulse 8″ system with an additional 12″ probe in case the area was badly contaminated with metal.
A rather elated John Turner contacted us the day after the search telling us how pleased he was with the equipment. The ring was located after just over 1 and a half hours. Mr Lewis also spoke highly of the equipment.
John, we are pleased to help!

Jonah tells you strategies for getting on a salvage crew. How he picked his crew looking for extreme metal detectorists. They had to be masters of the craft. Using techniques such as skip breathing, overlapping coil coverage and double checking holes to insure nothing is left behind. Click here to be taken to the blog post. Audio interview links are at the bottom of the post. Jonah talks about his experience with the Aquapulse from around 1:15.

Commercial divers will be trained to detect unexploded bombs in a new partnership between explosives disposal experts Ramora UK and the Professional Diving Academy, Dunoon.
Major operators such as e.on have stipulated that divers who wish to participate in this area of work must first have undergone a suitable training course. The course will focus on awareness and identification of unexploded items and will include the use of diver-operated magnetometers.
The Aquascan DX 300 Magnetometer has been chosen for this purpose, as it is arguably the most commonly used in this field. The DX300 is a highly-sensitive detection tool which can pinpoint the location of suspect items underwater, even when buried.
The course content draws on Ramora UK’s world-renowned expertise in explosives detection and disposal. The PDA, which has a global reputation for delivering high-quality, internationally recognised training for divers, will offer this course as a bolt-on within its Premier Career Package, or alternatively as a two-day standalone course for divers who wish to expand their skills.
We have to share news of this unbelievably awesome discovery involving Spanish gold! The crew of a boat known as “Capitana” recently discovered over 350 gold coins! The Capitana is part of the 1715 Fleet-Queen’s Jewels, LLC historic shipwreck salvage operation. The famous 1715 fleet sank in the year 1715, with millions of dollars in lost treasures. The vast amount of coins just recovered were found on exactly the 300th Anniversary of the 1715 Fleet!
According to Brent Brisben, the co-founder of of the 1715 Fleet-Queen’s Jewels, LLC, there were 9 rare coins also found, known as “Royals”. Those coins are valued at $300,000 a piece!! Brisben also mentioned, in a recent press release, that the coins were meant for the King of Spain and these make up 30% of all the known Royals out there! Can you imagine holding a coin such as this? Brisben said that all the artifacts were discovered in shallow waters, about 6 feet deep, off the coast of Vero Beach, Florida. The treasure hunter that made the amazing find was William Bartlett, near a location where Co-Captain, Jonah Martinez chose.
If you’re interested in Archaeological Diving in the Caribbean it would be worth you looking at the ADMAT website http://www.admat.org.uk/ for further information. We have been working with Simon Spooner for several years. They’ve made some great finds and are always looking for divers to help with the work. If you’re a BSAC diver, they’re Branch number 2349 !
It would also give you a chance to try out the AQ1B metal detector and DX200 hand held magnetometer.

Aquascan is pleased to announce the introduction of the JetCam.
The JetCam is essentially a camera in a tube that, when fed with water, is capable of penetrating sediment to give a view of objects beneath. This means that pipeline/cable inspections can be carried out without dredging. Metal detector hits can be visually verified without major disturbance of the sea bed.
